It’s been said that life is a journey – not a destination. In a similar light, travel should be seen as a journey, and not just a means to a point of arrival. The experience of getting there is actually an incredible part of the process.

Since 1995, I have traveled more than a million miles on five continents. Here is a chance for you to follow my journey and get to know some of the people I have met along the way. You can share my pleasure over magnificent aviation photography. In addition, you can take a look at busy air traffic scenes; airports, design, technology, culture, business and other ongoing changes.

In the experience of modern travel, I observe other people on the go, and along the way I strive to absorb the environments through which I pass. Part of that process has been to learn how airports are designed, and I have interviewed aviation professionals who really love their job. It’s a joy talking spontaneously to people from all over the world. Not only have these conversations yielded knowledge, understanding and enjoyment, but some have resulted in lasting friendships.

Explore the world’s busiest airports like Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), London Heathrow (LHR) and Tokyo Haneda (HND). Or take a peek at exceptional airports, like Rio’s Santos du Mont (SDU) close to Sugarloaf; or Innsbruck (INN) located at the foot of 6000 feet alpine peaks. Learn how pilots manage difficult conditions in La Paz (LPB) at an altitude of 13,300 feet above sea level or at latitude 78° during harsh winter conditions.

More than 60 airports and dozens of airlines are explored in Aviation - The Experience of Modern Travel. I have spoken with well known architects, designers, experienced pilots, hospitable flight attendants, aviation engineers and air traffic controllers to provide a complete window into the world of air travel. Hundreds of interviewees also describe their personal experience, responsibilities and passions.

Distinctive Photography and Authentic Information

This project has generated unique opportunities for photography and film, including breathtaking jaunts over jungles, continents and oceans. I spent hundreds of hours together with the pilots in the cockpit to portrait these flights.

From a different perspective, shots are captured close to the runway during take off, depicting powerful jet engines as they lift hundreds of tons of heavy aircraft into the sky. Minutes later at the same position, you’ll see a plane on touch down as the landing gear hits the runway, and within seconds tires become scorching hot, leaving a heavy friction of rubber smog behind.

Aviation is not only technology; at the arrival are scenes of people embracing one another warm-hearted. Looking around, you‘ll discover that an airport is a place where people are social and emotional.

Aviation - The Experience of Modern Travel, shows the power of modern technology used to move billions of people safely from one place to another. It also spotlights the people who make this travel possible, talking about their responsibilities, passion and emotion. In addition, it also chronicles the changes and improvements in technology, design and security over more than a decade of travel. Along the way, aviation professionals contribute authentic information on the whole fascinating process.
